Who Are Huw Edwards Parents (Mother) Aerona Protheroe And (Father) Hywel Teifi Edwards? Meet BBC Presenter’s Entire Family

Aerona Protheroe, Huw Edwards’s mother, was a teacher at Llanelli’s Ysgol Gyfun y Strade School for thirty years. Aerona was born and brought up in Brynbedw Terrace in Blaengarw.

Aerona’s father was killed in an accident at the Ballarat Colliery when he was 28, and she was just a baby. She was raised by her mother all on her own.

Aerona met her husband Hywel Teifi Edwards at Swansea University, and the pair soon tied the knot. The couple experienced parenthood twice, first with Huw and the second with daughter Meinir.

Aerona lives with her son Huw. Last year, the reporter shared her photos with his followers on Twitter.

He captioned the post, “Keeping our elderly parents safe is the priority — despite the pain of going months without physical contact. Gradually we will get there.”

The tweet was in the wake of the COVID pandemic last year, and the news presenter had to stay away from his elderly mother for many months.

Huw Edwards’s father, Hywel Teifi Edwards, was a literature of 19th-century Wales and a broadcaster. Hywel was born in the village of  Llanddewi-Aberarth, in west Wales.

During his youth days, he was a footballer, and, at Aberystwyth University, he furthered his passion. After his graduation, he undertook training under Gwenallt, one of the most prominent poets of his generation.

After the birth of his second child, Meinir, Hywel relocated with his family to the village of Llangennech, between Llanelli and Swansea.

There Huw became an activist and became a school governor. Teifi was later 1989 appointed as a professor at Swansea University, and he retired from that position in 1995.

Teifi Edwards passed away on January 4, 2010, at age 75. In his 75 years of life, Teifi also became an elder in the local Presbyterian chapel.

Huw Edwards has five children from his marriage with his wife, Vicky Find, who is a television producer and newspaper editor. Their five children are Amos Edwards, Sammy Edwards, Dan Edwards, Hannah Edwards, and Rebecca Edwards.

All five of Huw Edwards have managed to keep their life private and have no interest in gaining the limelight.

When he was asked tips about parenthood in his interview with Guardian, the reporter said, “There’s a principle that your youngest child gets a far better crack of the whip than your eldest. All your anxieties and inexperience and cluelessness as a parent are taken out on your eldest child.”

The Welsh presenter continued, ” So if you could give a parent all the patience and knowledge that they would have with their second or third child or whatever to the first, that’s the one piece of advice I’d give.”

Huw Edwards family started its journey from a small village in Wales, where they prioritized keeping their Welsh culture alive.

Huw’s grandparents came from a seafaring family, and his father, Hywel Teifi Edwards, was their only son. Soon Teifi met Huw’s mother, Aerona Protheroe and the couple exchanged their vows.

Aerona Protheroe was raised as an only child, as well as her husband, and the teacher had to grieve the loss of her father at a young age.

Huw Edwards has one Meinir Edwards, who once claimed that the strained relationship between Huw and their father, helped the presenter in his prospects.

She said, “Huw and dad were very similar in a lot of ways.”

They could capture the audience’s attention with just a couple of words. But they wouldn’t always get on and I think that was to a degree because they were so similar. Both of them were extremely passionate about what they did.”

Huw is married to Vicky Find, and the couple lives in Dulwich, London. All five of their children have gone on their separate lives.
