When Angila Wilder was discovered dead on the floor of her North Dakota home in 2015, a busy mother of three had been sure that someone was monitoring her.

The evidence swiftly pointed to her ex-husband when a bright young nursing student was murdered in her North Dakota home.

However, after Richie Wilder Jr. was found guilty of the murder of Angila Wilder, a casual discussion with a former bartender revealed that there was much more to the tragic story, as seen in Oxygen’s “Dateline: Secrets Uncovered.”

When Angila was found dead in her Minot, she pursued her nursing degree at Minot State University and had recently learned she was pregnant with her fourth child.

Chris Jackson, her fiancé, had contacted 911 to report that when he returned home, the house’s back door had been kicked in. Officers discovered the couple’s 2-year-old son uninjured in his crib, and Angila stabbed to death in her bedroom when they stepped inside.

Minot Police Sgt. Dave Goodman told Dateline producer Keith Morrison that he didn’t know how many times she was stabbed at the time, but he knew it was vicious and that Angila had sustained roughly 40 stab wounds.

Angila had driven Jackson to work at Wal-Mart, according to Jackson. He also mentioned that Angila had been apprehensive about being alone that night.

Richie was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder. He initially refused to meet with investigators, but after a few months in jail, he asked to speak with them and told them a surprising story.

Richie claimed he arranged the break-in with Angila’s fiancé because the guys felt she was cheating on Jackson and wanted proof of the affair to use in their custody battles.

During one of their conversations, Walters mentioned Richie’s arrest that killing someone with a knife was not a clever way to carry out the murder, and Cyndi admitted that wasn’t the original plan.

In December of 2015, Richie Wilder Jr. was arrested. Authorities foiled his attempt to flee the county jail in August 2016.

Richie also claimed that he and Chris suspected Angila of infidelity and planned to break into her home to get evidence. Richie then claimed that Chris had lost control, gone insane, and stabbed Angila.

They eventually discovered that Cynthia not only assisted him in his attempted escape, but she was also participating in the murder plot against Angila.

He was found guilty of murdering his ex-wife and attempting to flee from prison in December 2016. Wilder was given a life sentence without the possibility of release, as well as an additional five years for the attempted escape.

According to federal prison records, Richie is still detained at the United States Penitentiary in Atwater, California.

Angila Wilder’s husband had married Cynthia and assisted her ex-husband in murdering her.

Cynthia Wilder was given a life sentence without the possibility of release in May after admitting to assisting her husband Richie Edwin Wilder Jr. in the November 1, 2015 murder of his ex-wife Angila Wilder.

Richie lied to authorities about where he was on the night of the murder, and Cynthia backed him up, stating he was at home with her kids.

There is no formal record of her getting divorced from Richie Wilder Jr; therefore, it is unknown if she is still married.
