Juan Francisco Ibarra shot Zobeyda, a 22-year-old woman, many times till she died on March 8, 2022. Ibarra couldn’t accept Zobeyda’s desire to keep their friendship.
The suspect, Juan Francisco Ibarra-Tapia, shot Esquerra and two other passengers in the automobile. The suspect fled the area in his vehicle after the shooting and crashed into a residential neighborhood.
Authorities have confirmed that the incident was a homicide.

Zobeyda Esquerra was a 22-year-old who was shot on Geer Road and Wayside Drive on Tuesday. She was immediately taken to the nearest hospital where she died of her wounds.
Some passing police officers heard the gunshots and chased the suspect through town. They had a 2-mile chase before the suspect crashed his vehicle and ran to hide abandoning his vehicle.
The neighborhood where the suspect’s car crashed went on a brief lockdown after he started jumping fences. The search came to an end after one of the residents saw him hiding in the bushes and alerted the officers.

The suspect in the shooting of Zobeyda Esquerra has been identified as Juan Franciso Ibarra-Tapia. They had previously worked together.
In 2021, Tapia, then 22, was arrested for stalking Esquerra. He was, however, released on bail, the amount of which is yet unknown.
Tapia has been charged with various offenses, including one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two charges of firearm discharge in the conduct of a felony, and one count of evasion, following the event. He was arrested and brought to the Stanislaus County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail.

Zobedya Esquerra was on the way to pick up her boyfriend when she was shot. Therefore, we are certain she had a boyfriend but his identity is yet to be revealed.
According to the authorities, Tapia started shooting Esquerra and shot her boyfriend and another associate.
