On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Sun Valley teacher Jalen Witherspoon was arrested on charges of $exual misconduct with an underage student.
Witherspoon taught high school in Sun Valley.
The Sun Valley High School serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is located between Monroe and Indian Trail.
The curriculum at Sun Valley High School includes dual enrollment, vocational and technical education, honors, advanced placement, and college preparation.
Additionally, they offer the Aerospace Academy, where students can study aerospace and avionics and get licensed to operate drones.
Earlier this month, 28-year-old Jalen Witherspoon was charged with $exual misconduct with a child and removed from his position at Sun Valley High School.
Witherspoon is accused of two counts of statutory $exual crimes, two counts of engaging in $exual activity with a student, and three counts of engaging in indecent acts with a minor.

Jalen Witherspoon Sun Valley Teacher Arrested: Accused Of $exual Misconduct With An Underage Student
A former teaching assistant at Sun Valley High School in Monroe has been detained on suspicion of $exual misconduct with a minor, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s office said Witherspoon was removed from his position at the school after being accused of $exual misconduct with an underage minor.
The charges against him include two counts of statutory $exual offense, two counts of $exual activity with a student, and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Witherspoon was accused of $exual misconduct with a minor and fired from his high school job in early February, deputies said.
Furthermore, Sheriff Eddie Cathey stated, “The Union County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into this situation as soon as the victim alerted us to the charges.
Moreover, the Union County Public School system immediately removed the defendant from his position of power, and our investigation will continue until all leads are investigated.

Jalen Witherspoon Was Removed From His Position As A Sun Valley High School Teacher
Jalen Witherspoon is currently trending in the media after the news of his being charged with $exual misconduct with a child. He was removed from Sun Valley High School around his arrest.
Sun Valley High School provides the Fire Safety Academy, where students can gain a public safety certification while learning the fundamentals of Fire safety.
Witherspoon is accused of engaging in $exual behavior with two students, two counts of statutory $exual crime, and three counts of engaging in indecent acts with children. He was arrested on February 15, 2023.
In the Union County Jail, Witherspoon is now being investigated. His bail amount is still unknown.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office launched its investigation into this case as soon as it learned of the victim’s allegations, “Sheriff of Union County Eddie Cathey said.
Similarly, the Union County Public School system promptly removed the defendant from his position of authority, and we will keep looking for clues until we find them.
On the other hand, the principal of Sun Valley High School said that students would have counselors on Thursday and Friday in a letter to parents.
