Timeline of Genesis Reid’s Disappearance and Investigation

Genesis was last seen alive on Christmas Day 2025 while visiting family in Dothan. She was not reported missing until February 16 2026 when her mother claimed she woke to find the toddler gone and the apartment door open.

Neighbors quickly told police they had not seen Genesis for weeks. By February 17 investigators determined Adrienne Reid had lying and arrested her for false reporting.

Why Police Charged Adrienne Reid with Capital Murder

Prosecutors allege the murder happened on Christmas night hours after the family gathering. District Attorney James Tarbox stated Reid literally threw her in the trash and then engaged in a 53 day campaign of deceit before reporting her missing.

The charge carries the possibility of the death penalty. Reid is being held without bond at the Coffee County Jail.

What Evidence Led to the Murder Charge in Genesis Case

Surveillance footage from a neighboring residence provides key evidence against the mother. It allegedly shows Reid walking toward the apartment dumpster around 1130 pm on Christmas with a rolling duffle bag.

A second video recorded two days later captures her returning to the dumpster area carrying toys and other items belonging to the child. Investigators have executed 37 search warrants and analyzed over five terabytes of evidence.
