Who was Alexandria Castano? – Her body found outside mom’s Mount Vernon home – The bloodied body of a 24-year-old woman was discovered dumped outside the front door of her mom’s Westchester County home early Tuesday — after she had left suddenly the night before.
Police received a tip about 7 a.m. Tuesday and responded to the residence on Summit Avenue in Mount Vernon, where they found Alexandria Castano’s lifeless body, according to News 12 Bronx.
The woman’s mother, Lucia Castano, told the news outlet that her daughter left abruptly the previous evening while they were preparing dinner.
About a half-hour later, she told the station, Alexandria sent her a text that she was headed back — but she never showed up and didn’t answer her phone.
Alexandria’s sister said she wants answers about the mysterious death.
“She just kept saying, ‘Someone killed my daughter!’” Cristina Benitez told News 12 about her mother. “Someone did something to her, I know it. I just want to know what happened to my sister.”
The Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

No arrests have been made up to now. A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday, October 5 evening. Family and friends have been gathered to honor the young girl.
“Her smile, she just brights up the room, like super positive, ” Alex’s childhood pal, Maria Figueredo stated. One other pal Daiana Gutierrez spoke of Alex fondly and stated, “She is a very good person. She’s going to by no means hurt no one. She had a really large heart.” Alex’s mom, Lucia shared that she worked in retail and was going to school in hopes to become a lawyer.
