Kidney dysplasia, a congenital disorder that causes painful cysts to develop in her kidneys, is Hyland’s unseen illness. She had a kidney transplant in 2012, but four years later, her father’s kidney had to be removed because her body had rejected it.

She underwent a second kidney transplant using her younger brother’s organ four months later, which Hyland felt ambivalent about.

Since then, Hyland has had the help of her family, followers, and fiancé, Wells Adams, to get through the transplant recovery process and her emotional problems related to living with a significant medical condition. She acknowledges these challenges in her most recent essay and encourages others to be resilient and in control.

Star of Modern Family Sarah Hyland first made her health issues public in 2018 when she talked about getting a second kidney transplant.

She went into much information about having kidney dysplasia after the interview. This ailment caused her kidneys to develop abnormally and begin to fail as she grew older.

She had her first transplant in 2012 when her loving father gave her his healthy kidney to improve her health. But because her body rejected the donor organ, she needed dialysis.

Her brother offered to donate a kidney for her second transplant, which fortunately continued to be successful. The family persisted and gave it another shot.

Sadly, the therapy has left her body with unsightly reminders of what she had to endure and the remnants of her post-operative scars. She has, nevertheless, celebrated her disease and offered a message of hope to fellow cancer survivors while still being grateful for her body.
