On September 22, 2021, the NHL released a statement following an internal investigation into Anna’s allegations.
Who is Anna Kane?
Anna Kane is known as the estranged wife of NHL star Evander Kane, 29.
The couple married in 2018 and have had a rocky relationship since.
Despite a high profile marriage, Anna tends to avoid the public eye but according to HITC, she does enjoy being an active mom who spends her time hiking and taking “luxurious vacation trips.”
Earlier this year, she claimed that Evander tanked his own team’s games to make money to pay off a massive gambling debt while also cheating on her with a Los Angeles model.
In a since-deleted rant on Instagram, she alleged the San Jose Sharks player had intentionally thrown matches while leaving his family destitute.
She tagged the 26-year-old model and wrote: “So do u feel good about yourself f*****g my husband when I’m at home pregnant and he can’t even give me money to buy my daughter formula?
“Do you feel amazing with him? After he cheated on you so much that you broke up now you can do this to another woman?”
She went on: “Crazy he said how ugly you were and how much surgery you had … And how you had old rich sugar daddies while you were together?
“He cheated on you so much and you back to him? I’m shocked.”
She later alleged: “How does the NHL let a compulsive gambling addict still play when he’s obviously throwing games to win money? Hmm maybe someone needs to address this.”
Anna’s comments then sparked an internal investigation by the NHL.
What did the NHL say about Anna’s allegations?
The NHL released a statement on September 22 that recapped their investigation.
The press release revealed that the NHL “found no evidence to support those allegation, or allegations that Mr. Kane made any effort to negatively impact his own Club’s games.
“The extensive investigation of the allegations, which were made in social media posts by Mr. Kane’s wife Deanna, was conducted by Patterson Belknap Webb & Typer LLP in conjunction with NHL Security.
“While reserving the right to investigate any new information that might arise relating to the gambling allegation, the National Hockey League now considers that specific matter closed,” the press release concludes.
Despite being cleared of the NHL investigation, Evander is now the subject of sexual assault and domestic violence allegations after Anna filed a domestic violence restraining order application in California as part of her divorce case.
In court documents obtained by Front Office Sports, Anna alleges that Evander “forced” her to perform oral sex by grabbing her hair and “roughly twisting it around his hand” and “forcing” her head onto his penis following the funeral of their twenty-eight week old baby.
“I was crying,” Anna claims. “And Evander called me a ‘pathetic loser and stupid b***h.'”
She continued: “A few days later, Evander again forced me, against my will, to have sexual intercourse with him even though I had not healed. While I protested, Evander stated ‘you can’t r*pe you wife.'”
At this time, there is no reported criminal investigation but Evander was quick to release a statement denying the allegation.
“To be clear,” Evander’s attorneys said in a statement, “Evander denies ever abusing Ms. Kane or their daughter Kensington, whom he cherishes.
“He recognizes that they have many years ahead of them as co-parents, during which they will have to work together, which makes it that much more frustrating that she has chosen this path.”
His lawyer later added that they’re confident Anna’s “lack of credibility” will be exposed at the upcoming court hearings.
Do Evander Kane and Anna Kane have children?
The Kanes have two daughters, Eva, who was delivered at 28 weeks and died at Standford Hospital in March of 2019, and Kensington Ava, who was born over a year later in July of 2020.
In court documents, Anna claims that she is currently pregnant with their next child and is due in early 2022.
Within her allegations, Anna claimed that Evander’s gambling left them with no money to even buy formula for their daughter.
Despite the continued allegations, Evander quickly defended himself and said, “I love my daughter. I [will always] take care of my daughter in every way possible. I have always made sure her mother has had everything she’s needed and more.
“I have tried to de-escalate our divorce issues and be as civil and calm as anyone in this position could. I have tried to set up FaceTime calls and visits with her.
“She has refused me to see her and has unfortunately tried to use my daughter as leverage. I will continue to always take care of my family that goes without question.”
He went on: “I would encourage people to realize that someone who goes to this length to try and jeopardize someone’s career with lies is mentally unwell.
“I hope this is the last time I will be publicly addressing any further misrepresentations of me as a father.”
