Emergency services are at the scene of a serious collision in Wakefield this evening.

Police and Air Ambulance medics were called to Newmillerdam, shortly before 5pm, according to media agency, YappApp.

It is believed a motorcyclist lost control of their vehicle and collided with a mother and her child, who was in a pushchair at the time.

The rider, who is thought to have collided with a bus stop, is said to be seriously injured. West Yorkshire Police remain at the scene, and Barnsley Road is closed in both directions.
