Busch won in Kansas in May, and as a result of that triumph, he will participate in the Cup Series playoffs this fall. NASCAR will grant him a waiver so that he may still participate in the playoffs even though he missed the race.
In the first 20 races of the season, Busch has eight top-10 finishes and is presently ranked 14th in the standings.
