Is mental illness the explanation for gun related violence in the United States?

In the wake of mass shootings, we often hear people blame mental illness. But the heads of both the Canadian and American Psychiatric association tell Jon LaPook that while mental illness rates are similar in the two countries, the rate of gun violence in the United States is much greater than in Canada.
