Liverpool and Real Madrid each have storied histories in the Champions League, with 19 titles between them.
They have actually played against each other in two finals – first in 1981, with Liverpool winning 1-0 and then again in 2018, when a Gareth Bale stunner sealed a 3-1 victory for Madrid.
Liverpool fans may take some solace from history though as, in their only previous meeting in a two-legged tie back in 2008-09, the Reds defeated Real Madrid 5-0 on aggregate. ?

Real Madrid vs Liverpool
Liverpool and Real Madrid have met in two European Cup finals, the English club winning 1-0 in Paris in 1981 thanks to Alan Kennedy’s goal.
Madrid triumphed 3-1 in Kyiv in 2018. Karim Benzema’s opening goal was cancelled out by Sadio Mané, but two further strikes from substitute Gareth Bale – including a stunning overhead effort – gave Madrid the trophy for the 13th time.

In 1997/98 Bayern ran out 5-1 winners in the first game in Germany, Giovane Elber and Carsten Jancker each scoring twice and Thomas Helmer getting the other with Marco Simone scoring Paris’s consolation. Paris were 3-1 victors back in France, their goals coming from Franck Gava (17), Florian Maurice (73) and Leroy (75); Markus Babbel had levelled for Bayern.

Porto vs Chelsea
The clubs have played eight previous matches, all in the UEFA Champions League and all since 2004/05. Most recently, in the 2015/16 group stage, each side won their home game, Chelsea winning 2-0 in England before a 2-1 Porto victory in Portugal.
Man. City vs Dortmund
The clubs’ only previous meetings came in the 2012/13 group stage, the game in Manchester finishing 1-1 – Marco Reus scoring Dortmund’s goal – before a 1-0 home win in Germany.
Can’t help but feel that Manchester City will be pretty pleased with their draw against Dortmund, but you just never know with Erling Haaland in attack and currently the best No 9 in Europe alongside Karim Benzema.

• It’s an open draw so no teams are seeded and there is no country protection.
• The eight balls containing the names of the quarter-finalists are placed in the large bowl and shuffled.
• The first team drawn plays the first leg at home, against the second team drawn.
• The same procedure is repeated to designate the remaining quarter-finals.
