Who needs the Times Square ball drop when you’ve got Jennifer Lopez?
The 51-year-old pop superstar closed out 2020 with a performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” towering above the stage in a larger-than-life Valentino Haute Couture cape and a sparkling, spherical Marianna Harutunian headpiece reminiscent of the dropping ball itself.
Fans weren’t sure what to make of the entertainer’s face covering, with one Twitter user writing, “They said ‘please wear a mask’ and Jennifer Lopez said ‘ON IT.’”
“I’m not sure if JLo’s mask is CDC approved,” another mused.
Others poked fun at her fluffy, feathered white cape, with one person joking, “Jennifer Lopez doing a tribute to hoarding toilet paper is very on point for 2020.”
Lopez later removed the over-the-top outerwear to reveal a custom Balmain jacket and matching halter-neck jumpsuit entirely covered in shimmering crystals.
Earlier in the week, the New York native teased her performance with a stylish subway photoshoot, clad in another eye-catching Balmain ensemble.
