Austin Chandler Shirley, 28, of Greenville, perished after his Jeep veered off the road and struck a tree, according to the coroner’s office.

Austin Shirley, 28, died in a single-vehicle incident just after 10 p.m. Thursday along Highway 25 North, just within Ware Shoals’ city limits.
He was going at a fast pace on Highway 25 in Ware Shoals, according to the coroner’s office. Austin was driving north when he crossed into the southbound lane, raced off the shoulder, and hit a tree.
Shirley died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
A support page, “Justice For Austin” is created by his sister, Kaytlin, who believed Honea path police is responsible for their death.
Eddie Raines was involved in a car accident in Greenwood County along with Shirley. According to the page, he was being chased by honea path police, who went outside their jurisdiction and chased him at 100 mph by law.
She stated, “the cops should have backed down, but they didn’t. It was raining that night, and they hit my brother three times before he lost control and crashed into a tree, where he died from blunt force trauma.”
Eddie, their younger brother, survived the collision. But her 28-year-old brother Austin did not have that opportunity.

She acknowledged that it was wrong of him to escape the police. But instead of going to check on him, the police stood in the median and checked the cop’s truck first.
Then only they went screaming down to the car saying come out with your hands up while the car was in flames.
Kaytlin demands to view the dash video and hold this office accountable for what occurred. Every one of us battles demons on a daily basis, but it doesn’t mean we deserve to die the way he did.
“Nobody is flawless. I just want justice for my brother, she wrote. “I just want my brother to get justice. The cops never mentioned two persons being in the car nor did they mention their striking Shirley.
Thus, she believes that they are attempting to cover it up. She also claims that the office was not a certified PIT maneuver.

Austin Shirley died in a car crash two months ago in Ware Shoals. The police reports mentioned that he hit a tree when trying to escape from cops.
However, his sister believes that his brother died as a result of police officers’ incompetence. He was struck by the cop’s car three times, according to her, until he lost his balance, struck the tree, and died from the injury.

Kaytlin paid tribute to his brother on his two-month death anniversary and wrote, “she misses him so deep that she would give everything to hear his voice or see him smile again.”
“There isn’t a day that goes by when you’re not in my thoughts. I would give anything for you to be here today. I would have sacrificed my own life to save yours.”
“Words cannot express how sad I am that you are no longer with us. I’ve wondered why you had to leave this world, but now that I think about it, I know you’re no longer in pain,” she continued.
