Kate Middleton’s Emotional Tribute Celebrates a Teenager’s Strength and Creativity

In recognition of International Women’s Day, Kate Middleton took a moment to remember Liz Hatton, a teenager who recently lost her fight against cancer.

The official X account for the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a tribute to several outstanding women who have inspired them over the past year.

In a heartfelt message, Kate paid tribute to the late photographer Liz Hatton and her mother, Vicky. She wrote, “Celebrating the strength and creativity of Liz and Vicky Hatton. Meeting them both in Windsor last October was a privilege. Liz’s memory [lives] on through Vicky’s incredible resilience. Thank you for such an unforgettable moment.”

This meeting likely resonated deeply with Kate, who faced her own battle with cancer in 20241. After sharing her diagnosis in March, the mother of three underwent chemotherapy, which she completed in September.

Earlier this year, in January, the 43-year-old announced that she was now “in remission.” Her encounter with Liz last October marked the first time she was photographed after finishing her treatment.

Tragically, Liz passed away shortly after meeting Kate and her husband, Prince William, at just 17 years old. In response to Liz’s death, Kate released a statement praising her as “a talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both, per the BBC.”
