Royal Family Latest News Today, the Queen, Prince Charles, and Prince William have issued a stern rebuke of the BBC, which they call “overblown and unfounded claims” in the documentary The Princes And The Press, in an extraordinary joint statement.
The first part of the two-part series, which was presented by Rajan, looked at the media’s relationship with the younger royals that is full of complications and ambiguities. Among the points, it insinuated that negative stories about the Duchess of Sussex were leafed by palace insiders as part of a power struggle.
“Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and Kensington Palace in a joint statement noted that the free unregulated press together with a high degree of responsibility and transparency is an essential pillar of a healthy democracy.”
“But more often than not, it is rumors produced by unhappy sources and passed off as truth by the media. It is, without a doubt, very discouraging when people such as the BBC give them credibility,” the statement said.
Moreover, the documentary featured a reaction of Jenny Afia, the royal lawyer, to articles in 2018 concerning Megan’s supposedly suffering from some staff at the Palace. The Buckingham Palace is now probing these accusations.
After the presentation of the documentary, Prince William was reported to have ordered his aides at the royal palace to the company of harsh critics of the others splitting of his parents, the Sun wrote.
The BBC argued that the program was “centered on royal journalism and included contributions from a number of reporters from broadcast and the print sector“. On the other hand, the royal institutions are loathing the documentary mainly due to the perceived endorsement of unverified stories.
Apparently, the Queen can use a big, bold, social media post to say things she dares not say in real life about this matter. So, both sides will want not only to explain their different views but also to take effective action. How much strength in cohesion there actually will be when they try to reveal uncomfortable truths is yet to be seen.
