He was a former assistant chief at the Pittsburg department and later moved to Florida station.
At Fort Lauderdale of Florida, scirotto was the first openly gay and mixed-race police officer.

Larry Scirotto has been fired after the racism allegations were proven true and he conducted illegal practices in hiring and promoting the nonwhite staff while critically demolishing the rightful earning of white officers.
Larry Scirotto was employed less than a year but it was enough to investigate his hiring practice and conclude he emotionally injured enough white men that were mad he didn't consider their privilege for promotions. But it was perfectly fine until then having no diversity.
