Vasily Bykov Russian Project 22160 Patrol Ship Video On Reddit

On March 7, 2022, the Russian Navy patrol ship Vasily Bykov was assaulted and sunk.

Off the coast of Odesa, the patrol cruiser Vasily Bykov, a Project 22160, was bombarded. MLRS fire brought down the Black Sea fleet.

The identity of the Russian crew members on board the ship remains unknown.

The Ukrainian navy attacked Vasily Bykov at night, and the men were seen on video celebrating the hit while firing the MLRS.

Following the event, the Russian fleet took no action. The ship was patrolling the southern Ukrainian territory. On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and has since targeted the country’s major cities, including the capital, Kyiv.

The invasion has led more than a million citizens to take shelter as a refugee in neighboring countries. Also, the citizens have taken arms to protect their country. People have died in Ukrainian cities after the Russian armies have launched missiles.

The Russian patrol ship under Project 22160 has been hit by the Ukrainian fleet and the video can be found on Reddit.

The attack on Vasily Bykov led the ship to be destroyed and eventually sink under the Black Sea. Ukrainian Naval Rocket Artillery opened MLRS in the Odessa region.

The video sees several fires being made from the Ukrainian side and the soldiers celebrating the hit.

The ship had participated in the Battle of Snake Island on 24 February 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Vasily Bykov was the first patrol ship under the Project 22160 constructed for the Russian Navy.

The ship was commissioned on 20 December 2018. Vasily Bykov was 94m-long, 14m-wide, with 3.4m-height. The ship could accommodate 80 personnel.

It was armed with one 57mm A-220 naval gun on the bow of main deck. The ship had 2 14.5mm machine guns on the bridge deck with 2 DP-65 grenade launcher and 1Gibka air defense missile turret mount.
