With campsites and holiday parks in parts of the UK set to reopen from July 4, a number of popular UK holiday parks have seen a surge in web traffic, surpassing traditional summer holiday favourites. British holiday parks topped the charts in terms of searches, searches soaring by 50 percent between April and May.

Personal finance experts at Money.co.uk collected search traffic and discovered that the likes of Hoeseasons, Haven and Centre Parcs were being lusted after by the nation.

However, it was Butlin’s that come out on top as the most popular destination for Britons post-lockdown.

Searches for the affordable seaside resort almost doubled during lockdown.

What’s more, data published by Pitchup discovered that one camping staycation was booked every three seconds following the announcement by Boris Johnson that domestic travel was back on the cards.

Ahead of their reopening, holiday parks across the country are putting in place new hygiene and social distancing measures to protect staff and guests.

Butlin’s, which is set to reopen its doors on July 16, has already laid out new protocols in place throughout the park.

Guests will check-in using a new drive-through service, where they will be directed to a specific entrance to collect accommodation keys.

Hand sanitising stations will be placed throughout the park for guests to use.

Some onsite restaurants will remain open with social distanced seating and new opening times.

Entertainment will also continue, but with new regulations in place, minimising the number of guests able to see a show at any one time.

Hygiene will also be a top priority.

The Butlins’ website states: “We have a strict cleaning and hygiene policy in place and you’ll be assigned a room that has been thoroughly cleaned, sanitised and sealed before arrival.

“Our housekeeping teams are well equipped with the correct PPE and cleaning products to ensure your break is both safe and comfortable.

“To minimise contact with others, we will be removing our accommodation servicing during your stay so that you can truly relax in the knowledge that nobody other than you and your family will be entering your accommodation whilst you’re here. Should you need additional towels and bedding during your stay, you can request these from our Guest Services team via the app.”

Haven, Centre Parcs and Hoeseasons have also set out similar measures for guests.

Holiday parks weren’t the only travel searches topping the charts though.

The Caravan and Motorhome Club, P&O Ferries and Brittany Ferries also made it into the top 10 most searched for holiday brands as people looked for alternatives to flying.

Some traditional travel brands, usually popular in the summer months, saw a drastic downturn in traffic.

Lastminute.com is reported to have received 64 percent fewer searches, meanwhile, British Airways Holidays and Virgin Holidays both saw a drop in traffic.

It wasn’t all bad news for airlines tough, with Britons continuing to focus on global adventures in the future.

Jet2 Holidays, TUI, First Choice, and easyjet holidays all saw an increase in search traffic signally hope for the future of international travel.

Though there may be plenty of tempting holiday deals on offer, though, Money.co.uk experts advise shopping around.

“It’s worth making sure that you are getting the best deal possible and sticking to a budget, no matter how enticing the prices may look,” warned personal finance expert Salman Haqqi.
