New Year Florida Shooting: What Happened? The New Year Florida Shooting on January 1st, 2023 left the families of the victims in ruins.

Early on January 1st, a shooting in Ocala, Florida, left two people dead and four more hurt.

The agency also stated that four victims of the incident were being treated at hospitals for gunshot wounds, but it made no mention of their names or the facilities where they were being treated.

Approximately 100 people had gathered nearby when the incident allegedly took place at 4:30 in the morning. Despite the fact that detectives are still actively looking into the crime, police think there is no immediate threat to the community.

Around 4:30 a.m., gunfire erupted in the vicinity of the 1600 block of Southwest 5th Street, where about 100 people had gathered, according to the news released by the Police.

According to Ocala Police, detectives actively pursue leads as they diligently try to piece together the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. The Police also stated that many people were devastated and in mourning due to the tragic incident and that all those impacted by this heinous act are in their thoughts and prayers.

A 24-year-old man was shot, and nine other people were hurt in a New Year’s Eve shooting in Mobile, Alabama, according to Police. The shooting occurred a few blocks from where revelers had gathered to celebrate the city’s New Year’s Eve.

Who Were The Victims Of The New Year Florida Shooting?

Six people in all were shot during the incident. Police identified the two fatalities as Abdul Hakeem Van Croskey, 24, and Davonta Harris, 30. The conditions of four additional victims, whose names were not released, were stable.

Almost 100 people had reportedly gathered in the area when the shooting on SW 5th Street occurred around 4:30 am.

Four more people were shot, transferred to what the Police described as an undisclosed location, and their conditions were listed as stable there. Officials from the Ocala Police Department revealed in a statement on Sunday that they didn’t see any immediate danger to the neighborhood.

Are The Suspects Arrested?

The investigation is ongoing, and Police have not made any suspects in connection with the shooting yet.

Police advise anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-369-7000. According to the statement, anyone who gives Crime Stoppers a tip that results in an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.

The Police department asserted that cooperating could make the neighborhood safer by bringing those responsible for this crime to justice.
