The Karnataka government recognised his contribution to music by awarding him the Rajyotsava Award in 1997.
He was nominated as the chairman of Karnataka Sangeet Nrutya Akademi from 2005 to 2008. He was also awarded the Karnataka Kalashri Gaurav in 2009. He also received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Ustad Bismillah Khan and Pandit Sanna Bharamanna Smarak Rashtriya Puraskar by the Tansen Academy of Music, Chennai. His music has been preserved in the archives of Indira Gandhi Manav Sangrahalaya in Bhopal.

He has released a two-volume collection of his recordings In the footsteps and beyond and Shatanamanam to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Pt Mallikarjun Mansur.
