Cleveland, a 65-year-old real estate agent, has amassed this collection over the course of fifty years, and the items will be auctioned by Heritage Auctions in Dallas on March 27 and 28.

Cleveland holds every piece of his collection close to his heart, having carefully selected each one. He sees these posters not just as collectibles but as significant works of art designed to capture the audience’s attention and draw them to theaters. Covering about 125 years of film history, many of the images date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A standout item in the auction is a poster from the 1933 film “King Kong,” featuring actress Fay Wray being held by the giant ape. This particular piece is expected to fetch between $40,000 and $80,000. Other notable posters include a rare 1953 Italian version of the 1942 classic “Casablanca,” featuring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

Most of the posters set for auction have estimated values ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. Heritage estimates that the entire auction could potentially raise around one million dollars. Even after this event, Cleveland will still have about 10,000 lobby cards and around 500 posters left, which he might consider donating or selling at a later time.
