The pair were driving along Whitsunday Boulevard in a buggy. She was in the passenger seat when the buggy’s battery died around 4.30 p.m. Her spouse tried a U-turn to return and charge the vehicle, but the vehicle tipped over.

Marina was not wearing a seatbelt then and fell onto the road. Bystanders quickly removed her from the buggy and attempted for 35 minutes to resuscitate her, but she tragically died at the scene.

As per Daily Mail, she was in cardiac arrest, and several first responders on the island attempted resuscitation for 35 minutes without success. They had even called a rescue helicopter in nearby Townsville to take her to the hospital, but it was stood down because of her severe injuries.

They can be rented for a modest charge with no prior experience required, but they all have seatbelts in-built for passengers’ safety.
