Ryan and Titus viciously murdered James in December 2005 and were apprehended in Stoughton, Massachusetts after fleeing across the country. In February 2006, they were extradited to Nevada from Boston.

Ryan and her husband were found guilty of the murder of Melissa James. They were convicted for the crime and pleaded guilty to reduced charges instead of going through a trial.

On May 31, 200, Ryan pleaded guilty to one count of arson and one count of battery with a deadly weapon. She received two consecutive terms sentence of 3-13 years and was incarcerated at Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Regarding their family, Ryan’s mother died of a heart attack precipitated by excessive stress.

At first, they pleaded not guilty to the charges but changed their statement and pleaded guilty on May 30, 2008. Titus was convicted of second-degree murder, arson, and kidnapping of Melissa James. He received a sentence of 21 to 55 years in prison and doesn’t seem to be getting out anytime soon.

While they were serving their sentence, Ryan filed for divorce from prison, and was it became final in December 2009.

This isn’t the first time Titus was convicted of a crime as he was sentenced to 16 months in house arrest in 1995 for possession of ecstasy and conspiracy to distribute it. He was monitored through an electric anklet but was later sentenced to 21 months for violating his probation.
