Who Is Ben Oliver From Bexleyheath? Arrested Over The Murder Of Grandfather
Ben Oliver is a 25-year-old from Bexleyheath who pleaded guilty to the murder of his 74-year-old grandfather David on January 19, 2021. His sentencing is set to take place on July 28, 2022, at Old Bailey.
In January last year, the 25-year-old admitted to the manslaughter of David Oliver in Mottingham, south London. The grandfather was bedridden due to a stroke. The hopeless old man lay in bed when his grandson took his life away.

Ben was described as a “troubled and angry young man” who killed his bedbound grandfather with a knife. The jurors revealed that he was depressed and had suicidal thoughts.
The cause of the murder is believed to be a sexual allegation against David Oliver. Ben became aware of sexual abuse allegations against his grandfather and started hating him for that. David was also said to have had an affair and mistreated his wife.
What Illness Does Ben Oliver Have?
The allegations against his grandfather angered then-24-year-old Ben, who had Autistic Spectrum Disorder. He decided to take matters into his own hands and stabbed his helpless grandfather multiple times to the face and neck with a knife, killing him.
According to CDC, Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. People with ASD often have problems with social communication and interaction and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. People with ASD may also have different ways of learning, moving, or paying attention.
Ben had Autism Spectrum Disorder, combined with other emotional and mental factors, which diminished his responsibility for the killing. The court sentencing is believed to be affected likewise.
