Shinzo Abe Attacker Arrested: Who Is Tetsuya Yamagami? Motive Behind The Attack

Tetsuya Yamagami, the suspected shooter, has been arrested for attacking Shizo Abe, the former Japanese Prime Minister.

As reported in Times Now News, Police identify the person as Yamagami, a 41-years-old man. Abe’s bodyguards in suits hold the attacker on the ground.

The shooting news has become the trending topic for prestigious news articles. Abe, 67, is a Japanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007. He was a Chief Cabinet Secretary from 2005 to 2006 under Junichiro Koizumi.

The shooter shot a conservative twice while he delivered a speech, making him fall to the ground. According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, Mr. Abe sustained a gunshot wound to the right of his neck and a subcutaneous nosebleed under his left pectoral.

However, it is unclear whether both shots hit him or not or traveled elsewhere. The middle-aged man in his early 40s is in custody for further investigation.

Local Police are investigating the detailed information about the shooter. The Chief cabinet secretary Hirokazu Matsuno reported an unknown situation for Abe. In the circulated video, Minister Abe was in the middle of a street, giving a speech for a candidate in Nara, when the attack happened.

Since gun violence is rare and guns are difficult to find in Japan, people have queries about the type of gun and how the shooter brought the gun beyond all the security.

Tetsuya Yamagami might have some motive behind the attack, and he is a probable shooter.

Otherwise, no one has the gut to shoot the former prime minister in the presence of security and bodyguards. It is still unclear why the shooter tried to kill minister Abe.

Even though the Police arrested the culprit, they have provided no detailed information about the attacker. Probably, the investigator is still searching for the reason.

The attacker might have some personal issues with Minister Abe. However, he has not opened up about the reason.

As reported by the broadcaster NHK, Shinzo suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, a term to explain a feared death before announcing official death. An Associated Press reported he was out of breath, and his heart stopped when the security team airlifted him to the hospital for a gunshot wound.

According to the live viewer, the first shot sounded like a toy and didn’t make Abe fall. Following the first one, the second shot was more visible with spark and smoke. The formal prime minister collapsed by the second shot.

Another eyewitness claimed that after the first shot, Abe lurched backward, and after the second shot, he collapsed to the ground. People circuited him and massaged his heart.

Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, is a member of the Japanese Defense Force, a security team.

According to BBC, the suspected attacker is a former Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force member. Mr. Yamagami served in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force for three years until 2005.

According to Japan’s firearms law, guns are generally not allowed. Although there are exceptions for hunting-related firearms, very few people go through the inconvenience of owning a gun because the licensing process is time-consuming and expensive.

It becomes easy to have a gun for Tetsuya since he is a member of the Self-Defense force. Japanese Government has given the right to have guns for defense.

Otherwise, an individual should complete 12 steps before handling or purchasing a gun. It begins from a gun safety course to a written test three times.

Tetsuya Yamagami might have his own family with his wife.

Although the Police arrested the attacker and identified his name, they haven’t revealed the family details. His wife and family members might be worried about him.

Police need more time to disclose detailed information about Yamagami’s family. However, it would be better not to reveal personal’s information when in case of crime.

They will reveal further information relating to his profession and personal details.
