Newman stated that the actor’s role in the film was not affected by his ex-wife’s op-ed of 2018, the basis of his lawsuit against her. She further confirmed that she never saw any documentation within Disney that referenced Amber’s op-ed.

In his $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber, the actor claims that her 2018 op-ed, published in The Washington Post, cost him millions in work and his career and further his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean six.

Referring to the topic, Disney production executive Newman has never seen any documents that referenced Amber’s op-ed, never discussed it, and moreover, did not hear of or partake in discussion of its result.

Tina Newman, who works on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, was asked about Johnny Depps’s future in a potential sixth project in a pre-recorded deposition presented to the court on Thursday, May 19.

Heard’s lawyer questioned if she knew Johnny was being considered for a role in Pirate 6. Newman replied, “I don’t,” adding that the decision-making does not fall within her job responsibility.

Johnny is suing his ex-wife for $50 million as he alleges Amber implied he abused her in a Washington Post op-ed about domestic violence back in 2018.
