The NPR journalist is most remembered for his tenure as the host of the network’s “It’s Been a Minute” show. The weekly podcast is based on a nationally syndicated radio show.

Is Sam Sanders Leaving NPR? What Happened?

Sam Sanders left NPR in March this year after almost five years of hosting the podcast and radio show “It’s Been A Minute with Sam Sanders.”

He had confirmed the news through his social media post, where he reflected on all the time he spent with the network. Sam hosted his last day of the show on March 11.

The nation-renowned journalist had joined NPR in 2009 as a Kroc Fellow and became a field producer and breaking news reporter.

He thanked all of his NPR colleagues and even mentioned his co-workers from NPR’s member stations. Sam had mentioned that he would be taking a month off after his resignation and spending time with himself.

The NPR’s notable employee hosted “It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders” on NPR and had gained prominence from it.

After leaving the show, he spent his one-month free time getting a tattoo, made a rug purchase, and spent days watching his favorite sitcom “Happy Endings.”

A self-proclaimed “Loud Texan,” Sam is based in Washington DC for his work purposes. He will be back to journalism very soon as he has taken more than one month to find his inner self.

Meanwhile, the former NPR host has yet to share the next adventure of his life.

Sam Anders grew up in San Antonio and attended the University of the Incarnate Word and later the Harvard Kennedy School.

After his venture with NPR, he became a key figure in the network’s Election Unit in 2015. Sanders has a long history of involvement in journalism with various media companies, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Sam is the 2022 winner of the iHeart Award for Best Overall Host (male) and the Los Angeles Press Club National A&E Journalism award for best anchor/host radio.

Aside from his NPR job, he is also an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism since 2013.

With such an impressive career in the media, he may soon come up with another creativity of his own and be present in the media.
