Matty Healy, the lead singer of The 1975, has expressed his disinterest in writing about his personal relationships, seemingly taking a subtle jab at Taylor Swift in the process.
During a recent episode of the Doomscroll podcast, the 35-year-old musician opened up about the increased public attention he received following his month-long romance with the 34-year-old pop star in 2023.
Healy stated,

“Last year, I became a way more well-known public figure for loads of different reasons.”
While acknowledging that some artists choose to incorporate their personal experiences into their music, he emphasized his preference for focusing on his artistic endeavors rather than external factors.
“I think that a lot of artists, they become very interested in their lore, or they become interested in the things that have happened outside of their art that people know about, and they want to address that,” he explained. “And fair enough, do you know what I mean?”
However, Healy expressed that he is not interested in addressing the rumors and speculation surrounding his personal life, particularly those related to his “casual romantic liaisons.”
This stance appears to be a veiled reference to his high-profile relationship with Swift, which reportedly inspired several tracks on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Swift’s album, released in April, contains numerous references to Healy despite the couple’s breakup occurring less than a year prior to the album’s release.

Interestingly, Healy had previously avoided commenting directly on Swift’s work, stating in April that he hadn’t heard The Tortured Poets Department and adding, “Sure it’s good.”
Since their brief romance, both musicians have moved on. Healy is currently engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, while Swift continues her relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce.
Despite their individual moves forward, the subtle tension between them remains evident through Healy’s reluctance to engage with the public’s fascination over their past relationship.
