Lori Poland’s Story: The Truth Behind Her Abuse and Kidnapping

Lori Poland’s harrowing story began when she was just 19 years old. She had recently moved to California from Oklahoma and was trying to start a new life. Unfortunately, her dreams were shattered when she met Robert Paul Thiret.

Thiret was a convicted rapist who had just been released from prison when he met Lori. Despite his criminal past, he managed to charm Lori and win her over. However, it wasn’t long before Lori realized that Thiret was not the man she thought he was. Thiret quickly became physically and emotionally abusive towards Lori. He would beat her, choke her, and force her to have sex with him.

He also isolated her from her friends and family, making it nearly impossible for Lori to escape his grasp. Things took a turn for the worse when Thiret kidnapped Lori and took her to Nevada. There, he continued to abuse her and even forced her to participate in his criminal activities. Lori was too scared to try to escape, fearing that Thiret would hurt her or her family if she did.

Thankfully, Lori was eventually able to escape from Thiret’s clutches. She went to the police and told them everything that had happened to her. Thiret was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including kidnapping and rape.

Where Is Lori Poland Kidnapper Robert Paul Thiret Now?

Lori Poland kidnapper Robert Paul Thiret was sentenced to 10 years in prison in September 1984 on charges of abducting and sexually abusing and leaving her to die.

The kidnapper pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child and attempted first-degree murder during a special hearing in front of Littleton District Court Judge Charles Friedman.

However, Robert Paul Thiret served in prison for only six years. He was released on 7 December 1990. Thiret was eligible for release in 1989, but authorities decided to keep him behind bars due to public pressure.

The Colorado Supreme Court concluded in May that due to the delay, Thiret had to be released rather than paroled under the law that was in place at the time of the incident.

After serving six years in state prison, the kidnapper was transferred to Jefferson County Jail to serve for telephone harassment in June 1990. The public severely criticized his release.
