He then spent two years as a special assistant to the Assistant Attorney General of the United States Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.

Breyer was regarded as a leading authority on administrative law at Harvard.

Supreme Court Justice Officially Retires From Associate Judge

Supreme Associate Judge Stephen Breyer officially retired from the position and said he is optimistic about the judicial system in the U.S.A.

The Court has announced that it will issue all remaining opinions during his Term.

Stephen Breyer said, “as a result, my retirement from active service under 28 U.S.C. 371(b) will become effective on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at noon.”

Stephen was born in San Francisco on August 15, 1938, to Anne A. and Irving Gerald Breyer.

Stephen’s paternal great-grandfather immigrated to the United States from Romania, settling in Cleveland, where his grandfather was born.

Breyer grew up in a middle-class Jewish family. His father was a lawyer who worked for the San Francisco Board of Education as legal counsel.

Both Breyer and his younger brother, Charles R. Breyer, who later became a federal district judge, were Boy Scouts of America members who earned the Eagle Scout rank.
