Speaking after completing the run, Farrell expressed his admiration for his friend:

“I’ve known Emma for many years, and she embodies bravery. She’s what courage and pure determination are all about.”

Farrell went on to say:

“That run was nothing compared to the pain she has to endure every single day. It was an honour to see her waiting for me with four kilometres left, each representing a decade of her life. To do the final stretch together was unforgettable.”

The actor has so far raised over €700,000 for the charity Debra, which supports those living with EB. He completed the marathon in just over four hours.

This remarkable achievement comes after Farrell previously credited his son James Padraig Farrell, 21, with giving him a renewed sense of purpose. The actor had been struggling with sobriety but found motivation in caring for his son, who was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome at age five.

Farrell told the Daily Mail:

“James was two when I got sober. Knowing he had health issues was part of what fuelled my fight to give up alcohol and drugs.”

He added:

“All children need their parents – or someone – to care for them. James taught me to access within myself a desire to live, even if it was initially more about wanting to be around for him.”

Colin Farrell’s dedication to his friend Emma Fogarty and her cause has inspired many, showcasing the actor’s commitment to supporting those in need and pushing himself beyond limits.
