Is Mbuso Mandela Arrested For Possession Of Unlicensed Drugs?

Mbuso Mandela got arrested by the police after discovering an unlicensed firearm and suspected drugs in his home.

The officials raided his home in Morningside, the northside of Johannesburg. Reportedly, his landlord prompted the incursion. Other tenants had been allegedly complaining to the house owner. 

City Press reported the grandson of late Nelson Mandela, first president of South Africa, got arrested at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, 4 May 2022. 

The dog and other units found an unlicensed gun and something that looked like drugs. 

However, this isn’t the only time controversy has surrounded the 30-year-old. In January, he made headlines after a clip of him admitting domestic violence against his girlfriend went viral on social media.

In the video, he discusses how he abused her. Moreover, he claimed to have been asked by her to do so. The words from his partner on Instagram are opposite to his as she denies them completely.

How Much Jail Sentence Will Mbuso Mandela Serve?

Police recently arrested Mbuso Mandela for possession of an unlicensed firearm and alleged drugs.

As per the South African drug laws, one can receive a fine set by the court or face imprisonment for up to five years. In some cases, the offender gets both sentences.

Likewise, the maximum jail time for unlicensed firearm possession is 25 years. If the weapon isn’t prohibited, the sentence reduces to 15 years.

So, as for how many years, Mbuso serves in prison, it remains unknown. Nevertheless, Officer Dimakatso Sello recently said that the offender would soon appear in court.

Mbuso Mandela Mugshots – Where Is He Now?

Mbuso Mandela seems to be under the custody of the Johannesburg police.

There haven’t been any reports on his bail since his arrest on Wednesday. Nevertheless, his mugshots haven’t made it to the internet. 

Regardless of where Mbuso is, his family must be sad about the current situation. His late father, Makgatho Mandela, and mother, both biological and step, Rose Rayne Perry and Zondi, and grandparents, Nelson Mandela and Evelyn Mase, probably aren’t happy about it.

Besides the recent controversy, he has had a few more in the past. In 2015, police arrested him for contempt of court after failing to pay child maintenance on several occasions.

Two years later, he again faced legal issues after a father of a teenage schoolgirl filed a r@pe case against him. In defense, his legal team claimed that the s3x was consensual.
